HELP KARIN TO SAVE THE BULLY BREED'S IN BALI
Donation protected
Bali bullies need your help!
Together, we can build a beautiful new rescue center.
Stray dogs are part of the landscape in Bali, and many of them have it pretty rough.
Growing up in Bali, you get used to seeing all the heartbroken animals, but it never gets easier.
Then 8 years ago, I decided to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many street dogs as I could.
Western breeds are considered trophy dogs in Bali and are caged or chained in backyards. Most of them have never left their cage before, so they aren’t socialised and don’t know what a normal home is like.
When I started taking dogs into my care, I noticed the large amounts of pitbulls coming through my door.
Like most parts of the world, pitbulls in Bali have a negative reputation, and most dog shelters aren’t willing to rescue them.
Having grown up with them from the age of 6, it broke my heart to see so many bullies neglected and abused. That’s when I decided to focus on just rescuing bullies.
But rescuing a dog is only the first stage...
Once I have them in my care, I work alongside the best vet in Bali to get them back to full health.
This includes:
Blood tests
Sterilization
Deworming
Vaccinations
Tick treatment
Any other treatments they may need
The costs vary depending on the specific health issues of each rescue.
A mandatory checkup and sterilization costs about 300 USD
Food costs 50 to 80 USD a month per dog
Once the dogs have been treated by the vet, I bring them to my home and they have time to heal and build up trust with me. I then evaluate their character and bring in my K9 trainers and behaviourists. I have to make sure I choose the right trainer for the right temperament of the dog in order to give them the best head start.
In the last two and a half years, I’ve:
Rescued 206 pitbulls
Rehomed 180 pitbulls
Won the ‘Yak’ magazine award for woman of the year in Bali, woohoo!
But I’m only one person, and my house is only so big!
I currently have 22 pitbulls under my care, but there are thousands more caged pitbulls on the island that need help...
...and this is where I need YOUR help.
We are building the first ever Pitbull Sanctuary in Indonesia!
This will allow me to rescue 40 to 60 more dogs at a time and give them a safe place to stay until adoption.
(3D RENDERS)
We plan to have:
- 3 big play grounds
- Staff house (prepared for volunteers)
- Kitchen
- Stage room
- Quarantine room
The best part is, we already have the land (donated at a cost of 35.000 USD).
All we need now is 50.000 USD to finish building the facilities.
Your contribution will help more dogs like these adorable little cuddle puddles:
ZEUS: He came to me with the biggest abscess I have ever seen. He was extremely malnourished, dehydrated and had blood parasites. He is happy today with his adopters.
BRUNO: A classic pitbull case. He was caged for the first 2 years of his life and had no social skills or trust in humans. Now he is STRONG!
SHADOW : After being seriously neglected by his owner, Shadow weighed just 9kg when he arrived. He is now a happy bundle of joy and weighs a healthy 28kg!
Your donation will go a long way towards saving more four-legged lives and making the world a furrier, friendlier place.
We love you for that!
